Get ready. Republican, er Independent Senator Joe Lieberman is earning his pay from John McCain and the GOP. He stated on Face the Nation:
"Our enemies will test the new president early," Lieberman, I-Conn., told Face The Nation host Bob Schieffer. "Remember that the truck bombing of the World Trade Center happened in the first year of the Clinton administration. 9/11 happened in the first year of the Bush administration."
That's right, Joe. Scare them into voting for McCain. I choose to err on the side of hope, not fear.

Incidentally, I don't see Senator Clinton as the VP, but rather in a key cabinet position where she can help the United States with it's embarrassing health care situation. I'm curious to know Obama's choice for a running mate, and I trust him to make the best possible decision. Remember trust? It lives on the same street as hope.
I was first to vote at my precinct this morning. That's not unusual - I am often the first voter there. This time, however, I got all choked up. As I have discussed with several people, this primary is a really big deal, but this presidential election has me quite emotional.

Excuse me. Senator Obama? Are you the president yet??
I spied this globe in someone's trash on my way to work yesterday. Imagine! Throwing away the earth the day before Earth Day!! So sad, but an excellent find for me. It's one of those things that's too good to pass up, even though it's not immediately obvious what I will do with it. I have a globe I use for reference, although it seems fairly obvious that globes and maps are pretty much obsolete as soon as they are printed. This National Geographic Globe, for instance, can show me where the USSR is located.
So today, Earth Day, I brought my coffee to work in my OXO tumbler (best thing ever, by the way, never leaks or spills), and my lunch in sustainable bento boxes with a Light My Fire Spork (great to have). I'll think about the entire Earth, yes, but my mind is preoccupied at least a little with Pennsylvania. Yes We Can, PA.
Finally, I actually heard myself saying this to Fnn this morning, "Do NOT walk away from me while I am yelling at you!!"
This 'survey' is interesting.

There appears to be no distinction between beer snobbery and those who would chug tasteless yellow fizzy water that I won't mention here, but it's commonly referred to by a cutesy three-letter nickname. There also appears to be no representation for the Female Beer Snob/Obama Supporter. I know I'm not alone.
This article includes a photograph of wine (I think) and Hacker Pschorr Weisse. Hardly fair. I'll drink a Hacker Pschorr any time, and I doubt a McCain supporter would go near one - let alone be able to pronounce it.
Amateurs.
I love Boston. It's one of those bands I like to listen to very loud. VERY loud. Other bands have songs I like to have on high volume, but I like ALL Boston music really loud. What? You think I am a nerd? I think not.
Another reason to love Boston? This. From founding bandmember Tom Scholz, referring to Mike Huckabee:
"Boston has never endorsed a political candidate, and with all due respect, would not start by endorsing a candidate who is the polar opposite of most everything Boston stands for,” wrote Scholz, adding that he is supporting Democratic Sen. Barack Obama. “By using my song, and my band’s name Boston, you have taken something of mine and used it to promote ideas to which I am opposed. In other words, I think I’ve been ripped off, dude!”
I particularly love the us of 'in other words' in this statement. It's so George W. Bush!
Following last week's tornadic activity in and near where I live, the weekend also proved to be a bit of a whirlwind.
I worked all day Saturday, as it was the first day of my school's community learning semester. It never fails to surprise me how I can be completely exhausted, yet still find energy for doing the things that I love to be doing - even when they fall under the umbrella of 'work.'
I should have taken the opportunity to run my errands after work on Saturday, when the temperature was a heavenly 45 degrees (or thereabouts). Instead, I succumbed to a headache - likely due to poor hydration - and fell asleep early.
My Sunday routine involves coffee and political television. I must say that this Sunday was a boost to my spirit, especially after Senator Obama's strong wins in Saturday's primaries and caucus. I think it was one caucus - hard to keep track, really.
I then ventured out in the nearly -20 wind chill temperature to run those errands. I also visited a friend to see her new interior house paint. It was warm and cheerful in her house, at least. Actually, even with the frigid temperature, the day was absolutely beautiful, so it was well worth the inconvenience of needing to be out.
This morning, I awoke to the news that Obama had not only prevailed in Maine's caucus Sunday, but he picked up a Grammy to boot! Got Progress? Yeah, baby! We have Progress!!
Hell to the yes!
I am about to pee my pants about (the unofficial) Super Tuesday. I won't (at least I think I won't), but I am just Super Excited about Super Tuesday in New Hampshire! If you're reading this, Barack Obama, I think I love you. Not in the predictable way that I love Nick Seymour, John Cusack (yes, Bossy, I said that) and some of my college professors. I love Barack and Michelle and their girls, all of them. If they have a dog and/or a cat, I love them, too. I am very impatient, but thankfully he's not. I said it back in September, A Change is Gonna Come.
Okay. So the other day I mentioned my 3-month list. I can still do that, I can. I spent a decent amount of time throwing stuff away over the weekend. Imagine. Me! Throwing stuff away! They said it couldn't be done. I have decided that in much the same way my refrigerator works, I am going to organize my house. Maybe my whole life, even, but that's a little ambitious for me at the moment. Baby steps. So, why is it that the refrigerator is a self-policing appliance (not to where it's going to take care of that green fuzzy dish in the back corner, but bear with me here...)? A fridge has a finite amount of space. When you have a full fridge, you don't buy more food that needs to be refrigerated, now do you? Okay, I have done that before, but NO MORE!! I went cooking crazy on Friday night and made a huge casserole and a big pot of soup and I portioned out some things and placed some in the freezer, ate some of it, and the rest is a reasonable amount to consume within a few days. Not bad when you consider what a packrat I really am.
So the refrigerator thing is now going to be applied to my house. My tiny house has a finite amount of space (like a refrigerator, see?). When I buy something new, something I no longer use has got to go. I did that in my studio apartment years ago in California, and I didn't have fire hazards in every room the way I do now. Add to the fridge principle the 3-month rule, and I should be golden!
My classes started today, too, so I simply won't have time to deal with all of my little issues, so I am going to tap into my inner control freak and unleash it on myself for a bit. I'll check back about it from time to time, but I think it will be a good and realistic objective.
In addition to my cooking and throwing out of stuff this weekend, I also had time for my family holiday get-together (Mom was sick when we were originally scheduled to get together), I went to my nephew's basketball game (leading scorer, he was) and to cheekymonkey's daughter's 3rd birthday party. I feel very fortunate to be surrounded with bright, polite and talented children wherever I go.
Can we just call him that now? Please?
Thank you, Iowa. Thank you, Progressive Americans. Thank you, especially, Howard Dean - for making me a political believer in the first place. It's a very good day, indeed!
